Your Event Planner Tip of the Day….. Planning a Family Reunion

Start by assembling a list of family members, including spouses, significant others and children. Get in touch with at least one person from each branch of the family to help you track down contact information for other family members. Make sure to collect email addresses it really helpful when it comes to updates and last-minute details

Create a reunion committee. Somebody has to be in charge to make sure everything is getting done and no one is slacking. You’ll need someone who is a great at delegating. Planning a reunion is a huge job for one person, so find some family members who are willing to share the work.

Put someone in charge of each major aspect of the reunion such as reunion location, activities, budget, mailings, record keeping, accommodations, transportation etc.

The biggest consideration is budget. Figure out how much you are going to spend. Get the family involved to help with the cost by asking for a registration fee from each adult family member.

Also, themes have become very popular; creating a theme for your family reunion is an excellent way to interest people to attend. Don’t for get about special birthdays and anniversaries.

Your Event Planner Tip of the Day..Simple Reception Table

reception-table-centerpieces

There’s no rule stating that you must have an elaborate centerpiece on each of your wedding reception tables, though we will admit that most brides and grooms do. Simple is often the best way to go, especially if you’re styling and putting together your reception tables yourself. We’re fond of wedding reception tables that skip the big centerpieces in favor of small framed pictures of the bride and groom and a beautiful wedding favor on each plate. A little confetti or some rose petals in a complementary color can complete the look so your simple reception tables look chic, not naked.

Your Event Planner Tip of the Day..”Planning a Charity Ball”

An elegant alternative to a traditional fund raiser is a charity ball. With lots of glamor and maybe even a few celebrities, your evening dinner and dancing event can help raise money for your favorite charity while giving people a good excuse to put on the ritz!

Planning a Meeting or Convention

Meeting planners understand the importance of keeping attendees and/or organization members feeling that their time is well spent by attending a convention or congress. One of the goals is to make sure that attendees will return for next year’s convention

Your Event Planner Tip of the Day…

“Planning a Gala”…..A charity gala is a popular way to raise funds for a good cause. If you want to organize a gala for your favorite charity, be prepared for hard work. After months of preparation, you’ll have a glamorous and glittering night of music, beautiful gowns and, with luck, a balance sheet in the black. So put on a great charity ball, and get those folks in the mood to give.

Your Event Planner Tip of the Day..

“Planning a Golf Tournament”

Choose a golf course and facility that will suit your needs and be sure their staff is accommodating. Meet with the staff and be sure to communicate what you want to accomplish, especially if you are doing a luncheon or awards gathering after play. Also, now is the time to consider how many golfers you will allow. Check with the course on their recommendations. However, for smoother play, try not to book more than 128 golfers per course.

Your Event Planner Tip of the Day..Sweet 16

A sweet 16 party is not only fun, but also marks a bittersweet moment for parents and their daughter. It is a time of remembrance as she passes through the doors of childhood on her way to becoming a young woman. For this reason, her party should be as special as possible, from the invitations to the cake.

Your Event Planner Tip of the Day

Catering fees change based on the type of food ordered, the experience and ability of the caterer, and the number of guests you have to feed. Hiring the highest rated caterer in town to feed 300 guests will be costly. However, there are ways to cut prices, like choosing some of the more inexpensive items on the menu. Catering fees for 50 guests could come to $12,000, which is about $80 per person, if you choose a higher-end caterer.

Event Planner Tip of the Day

Green Wedding

Recycle: Using recycled paper in your eco-friendly wedding invitations is one thing, recycling elsewhere is another. Buying a second-hand wedding dress may allow you to wear a designer wedding dress when you walk down the aisle. Sharing wedding ceremony decorations with another bride could mean that you have more flowers and bunting than you could ever afford on your own. How about vintage wedding bands? Retro tea cups as wedding favors? Don’t assume that buying second-hand or sharing will mean you’re getting ghetto goods. In many cases, you can save money *and* get a higher quality, fancier product!
